Towson University Campus Development

This guide holds information related to the physical development of TU's campus.

Early Buildings

From 1866 until 1876, the Maryland State Normal rented space, first at Red Men's Hall on Paca Street in Baltimore, and then at the Athenaeum on Franklin Street. In the fall of 1876, the school moved to the first home constructed for it at Carrollton and Lafayette Avenues in Baltimore City.
