Finding books

The following links will help you find more information about your author, book, or themes.

If Cook Library does not own a copy of the book you want, use Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad or ILL) to request the materials from another library.

Books that are requested from other University System of Maryland (USMAI) libraries should arrive within 2-5 days. If your book is delivered from a library outside of USMAI, you may need to allow up to a week for delivery.

WorldCat TU
WorldCat TU searches for materials held at Towson University and at libraries around the world. This is an excellent place to search for books and to discover material about your topic.
Cook Library Catalog
Search the Cook Library catalog for books, e-books and DVDs. Go to the Advanced Search box at the top of the screen, key in the name, keyword, or subject in the search box.
USMAI Catalog
The University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions is a comprehensive catalog of libraries which are members of the Maryland system, and allows Towson students and faculty to tranfer books (not journals or audio visual materials) held by other institutions to Cook Library. Use the request button in the full record to initiate the transfer, which is usually within three to five business days. Other resources, such as electronic books or government publications, can acquired directly from this catalog. Use the Advanced Search feature to limit to electronic publications.

A multidisciplinary e-book database that covers all academic subject areas. The collection includes more than 150,000 titles from more than 220 academic, STM, and professional publishers. Towson University's Ebook Central collection also includes 8 separate databases in business, marketing and economics; humanities; life and physical science; medical sciences; computers and information technology; engineering and technology; social and behavioral sciences; education; and reference and maps. In order to download books for offline viewing, you will need Adobe Digital Editions. This collection of ebooks used to be hosted on Ebrary and EBL.

Early English Books Online (EEBO) contains digital facsimile page images of virtually every work printed in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and British North America and works in English printed elsewhere from1473-1700 - from the first book printed in English by William Caxton, through the age of Spenser and Shakespeare and the English Civil War. This collection now contains about 100,000 of over 125,000 titles listed in Pollard & Redgrave's Short-Title Catalogue (1475-1640) and Wing's Short-Title Catalogue (1641-1700) and their revised editions, as well as the Thomason Tracts (1640-1661) collection and the Early English Books Tract Supplement.
