Art + Feminism

This guide gives background on the Art + Feminism Wikipedia editing project along with tools to get started as an editor and research resources to enhance Wikipedia entries.

Best Practices

  1. It's advised to select a username that can not be easily traced back to you. Editors are occasionally harassed online. Check out Wikipedia's username policy for more information on inappropriate usernames and guidance.
  2. If you are unsure about something, ask! We are all in this together
  3. Remember that when it comes to citing information on Wikipedia, there is no such thing as public knowledge. Every claim requires a citation to verify its credibility.
  4. Secondary sources are best to use for citations. Textbooks, books, mainstream magazines and newspapers, academic journals, and museum websites are all acceptable sources. Do not use artists personal pages or gallery websites.
  5. Don't obsess! If you are having trouble finding citations for an article, move on. It's more important to keep chipping away and stay motivated than it is to hunt down an obscure reference.
