Incorporating meaningful information about your proposed host country will demonstrate your awareness of a country's unique culture, climate and needs. The resources below are for general research, contact the Student Success Librarian for assistance in finding books and other resources relevant to the country you are researching.

CIA World Factbook
Provides information on 266 world entities. A great place to learn about your country's people, history, economy and transnational issues.
NationMaster.com
A great source for useful statistics that are easily comparable by country. Information is compiled from the United Nations, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and more.

Another great source of statistics about different countries. The Country Reports describe the status quo and development of countries and regions including key economic indicators like GDP, national finance, demographics and trade figures as well as major industry players.

U.S. Department of State - Country Information
Safety and security information for each country, including additional information for women and LGBT+ travelers. Also links to U.S. Department of State fact sheets for each country.
