Introductions

Congratulations on pursuing higher education! Academic research is exciting because you learn more about things that interest you, but: It can also be confusing. This guide can help by highlighting resources and strategies to use throughout your research, from brainstorming a topic and finding sources to citing those sources and writing your paper. Questions? Please don't hesitate to contact me, your personal librarian, via phone call, SMS or direct messaging, email, or video conference. I can be available morning or night, weekday or weekend, so: Let's talk soon.

Start Your Research Survey Papers

These assignments encourage you to reference three primary sources authored by the educational psychologist of your choosing. Because many of these sources are now in the public domain, you may be able to access them more quickly via an internet search rather than a library database search. Feel free to get started with a basis browser and Google Scholar search, but if those don't help, level up your search process with one or more of these also free and legal options:

If this is your first time using the Internet Archive, read through this introduction to borrowing items from Archive.org.

If this is your first time using the Marxist Internet Archive, this list of MIA Frequently Asked Questions will help you conduct general searches or limit to eBooks and audiobooks.

This brief video tutorial combines Marxist Internet Archive and Cook Library database searching. It features closed captions and audio narration. To easily navigate the many different sections of this 13 minute video, please watch it on YouTube to access the Table of Contents in the Description field.

How it works

This button adds some information in front of the URL called a proxy that allows you to log in through your TU netID.

It will only work for resources we subscribe to. Check the Journal List or Databases list for a complete list, or Ask a Librarian.
